Our overall approcah is to develop players that are very comfortable on the ball, where they are happy to receive it in tight spaces and make the right decsion, whether to dribble, take on a player or make a perfectly weighted pass to one of their team mates. We develop technically proficient players by practising football drills with all the different parts of the body. Once they have mastered these skills this allows them the creative freedom to find out what type of player they are, and come up with their own unique way of playing. When they play football we want them to have as much time as possible to decide what they want to do with the ball. How do they get that time on the ball? They need to have great core techniques and the easiest way to learn these is when they are young.
1) We teach kids to find those pockets of space by teaching them good movement. The more space they have created for themselves the more time the have on the ball.
2) How to contantly scan the field and look over their shoulder. Every player needs to know where they can pass the ball to before they receive the ball.
3) Their first touch has to be good. The better their first touch the more time they have on the ball. Whether they kill the ball dead or move the ball in to space, we will teach them to use both techniques. Also how to use all different parts of your feet, legs, chest and head to control a ball.
4) How to shield the ball and control the ball on the safe side.
5) How to gain time on the ball, a fake pass or using deception when receiving the ball.
6) How to pass the ball. Passing with accurancy with both feet is fundelmental to becoming a good footballer.
7) Differerent types of dribbling techniques. How to dribble for close control and how to dribble when you need to move up the pitch quickly. Recognising when to use both.
8) Skills to beat your opponent and get away from defenders. We practice lots of skills but also teach the kids how to use these skills at the correct times.
9) How to strike a ball properly by developing the correct technique at an early age.
10) Game intelligence. We want to teach kids to be smart footballers, to help them make the right decisions, when to pass, when to take your opponent on. How to make the ball do the work.
11) We want them to learn in a safe and fun envirnoment but also it's imperative that they listen to their coaches and respect each other.
